Wine racks could line the walls, a nice large table could sit in the center with plenty of chairs for even the largest of families, and maybe even have a small kitchen in the corner for impromptu cooking.

No matter the size of your garage, a library is an equally valid option. Lining the walls with shelves to store books of all kinds with tables and chairs in between for some in depth sessions of reading. The garage, again being separated from the house, gives you a place to escape and find some peace and quiet while you dive into the next chapter.
